Amelia Island Book Festival
Founded in 2001, the Amelia Island Book Festival focuses on the fun of reading and writing. It places an emphasis on promoting lifelong literacy for the young and young at heart throughout northeast Florida.
Its signature event happens each February and features a star-studded lineup of authors who visit area schools, participate in an expansive public event featuring discussions, Q&As and book signings. These literary icons also attend a black-tie gala.
International best-seller John Grisham, who has vacationed on Amelia Island, is a past participant in the Amelia Island Book Festival. In fact, Fernandina Beach’s downtown bookstore, The Book Loft, served as inspiration for the fictional bookstore in his Camino Island novel.
The Amelia Island Book Festival is a wonderful way to celebrate storytelling, and interested Amelia National residents should note that the organization offers memberships, and donation and volunteer opportunities year-round.
The 2025 Amelia Island Book Festival takes place February 28-March 1.
Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival
This special event not only takes place during northeast Florida’s mild winter, but also extends into balmy late spring, giving Amelia National residents seven months to enjoying multiple live musical performances.
Now in its 24th year, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival begins in mid-December and ends in mid-June. Each month features concerts at popular locations in Fernandina Beach and across Amelia Island — all only minutes from Amelia National.
Unfamiliar with chamber music? It’s often performed in small venues, either by solo musicians or a group, and frequently includes stringed instruments and pianos. Music by great classical composers are staples, but many Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival performers also are known for modern compositions and popular genres such as bluegrass.
As with the Amelia Island Book Festival, Amelia National residents can support the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival via attendance, sponsorship, volunteering and donations.
