Ready for a new custom Florida home surrounding by amazing dining experiences? Tucked in the northeast corner of the Sunshine State, the Amelia Island-Fernandina Beach area is a superb place to start and end your search.
On the home front, Amelia National Golf & Country Club offers the region’s top residential experience. It’s one of ICI Homes’ signature properties, stocked with jaw-dropping amenities and plenty of opportunities to build or buy new luxury custom homes in a beautiful coastal forest setting (a Tom Fazio-designed golf course, anyone?).
On the foodie front, Fernandina Beach’s white-hot culinary scene gets yummier by the day thanks to innovative concepts, inspired chefs and abundant fresh local seafood. But some of its best ingredients are the freshwater and saltwater vistas served along with the food.
Here’s a sample of where Amelia National residents can dine with water views.
Brett’s Waterway Cafe — at the Fernandina Marina Harbor in downtown Fernandina Beach, Brett’s offers fun, original dishes plus live entertainment. Its wraparound deck is an unbeatable spot to toast sunset over the Amelia River.
Down Under — only minutes east of Amelia National, nestled under the State Road 200 bridge over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Down Under grew from a classic 1980s Florida fish camp into a local icon. Expect fresh, southern seafood offerings and plentiful sightings of waterfowl, fish, manatees and other aquatic life.
Kitchen 251 — also only minutes east of Amelia National, but on the opposite side of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway from Down Under. Kitchen 251 is located at the Amelia Island Marina on the Waterway’s east side and features cajun specialties and classics, plus water views.
Salt Life Food Shack — at Fernandina Beach’s Main Beach Park, this outpost of the popular Jacksonville-based lifestyle brand Salt Life, is one of the brand’s four restaurants on Florida’s Atlantic Coast. Its rooftop deck puts diners right in view of the Atlantic Ocean only a block away, with plenty of beach-y eats and libations on the menu.
Sliders Seaside Grill — a few miles south on A1A, Florida’s Atlantic coast highway, Sliders is located oceanside next to Seaside Park. It’s a favorite for casual burgers, seafood, salads and small plates and yes, fried pickles. There’s a tiki bar and live music for grownups and a playground for the kids. On Sliders’ second level, Tortuga Jack’s offers breakfast at the beach.
Sandbar Amelia Island — at Main Beach with direct Atlantic Ocean views. Another fresh, casual menu featuring seafood, burgers, pizza, appetizer classics and more. Eat indoors, on the outdoor patio, or at beachside picnic tables. Live music and a mammoth whisky collection go hand in hand.
The Surf Restaurant and Bar — on South Fletcher Avenue off A1A, just south of Main Beach Park. Dating to 1957, the Surf is a Fernandina Beach-Amelia Island classic. Atlantic Ocean views are served with fresh seafood dishes, tacos, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and buttermilk-fried fried pickles, of course!
