Please Give a Warm Welcome to Pete Milner – Lead Assistant Golf Professional at Amelia National

April 1, 2024Many of you have likely seen a new face in the Amelia National Golf Shop and around the practice facility over the past few weeks. We are excited to formally introduce our New Lead Assistant Golf Professional, Peter “Pete” Milner! Pete started playing Par 3/ Pitch & Putt golf at the age of 7 and quickly developed a love and passion for the game. Despite the rules of golf in Ireland preventing him from playing a regulation course until the age of 11, he rose to highest level in Ireland as one of the youngest champion Pitch & Putt players ever. He joined Ashbourne Golf Club on his 11th birthday and continued his growth, winning player of the year several years running. As the accolades piled up, he was thrust into the County and International scene, where he was part of the youngest County Champions team in history, winning all of his matches. When he turned 18, he knew exactly what he wanted to do; play golf full-time. Since then, he has been growing and developing his game and coaching skills all while trying to play full-time on the Mini-Tours and competing in Monday Qualifiers/Open Events. He had some success winning in Germany on the PGA Circuit and some other smaller events. Eventually, his focus shifted fully to coaching and using his years of playing experience to help other golfers enjoy the game. He received a Master Teaching “Class A” and a degree in Sports Science (focusing on spinal and motor control function). He’s also a Certified Golf Biomechanical Practitioner and has an NLP in Sports Psychology. “I feel I am well equipped with my knowledge and experience to help any golfer of any level improve and enjoy the game more. Amelia Island Book Festival a Winter-Season Highlight

January 16, 2024One of the awesome things about living at Amelia National Golf & Country Club is the preponderance of fun things to do at home and away, and the Amelia Island Book Festival is one you don’t want to miss. Boasting the area’s top resident amenities and plenty of room to build or buy your new custom Florida home, Amelia National’s unbeatable location just west of Amelia Island also provides effortless access to superb dining, shopping, and other artistic and cultural experiences. The annual Amelia Island Book Festival is one of those events. It happens each February in Amelia National’s historic hometown of Fernandina Beach and other Nassau County locations, and Amelia National residents are only minutes from all the literary fun. Local, regional and best-selling authors in all genres of fiction and nonfiction will visit Amelia Island on Friday, February 23, and Saturday, February 24 have fun with festival attendees. Expect a gala dinner, meet-and-greets and book signings. Many authors also will visit Nassau County schools on Friday to present their books and interact with students. Read on for more on how to enjoy the Amelia Island Book Festival. What it is The Amelia Island Book Festival was founded in 2001 by a quartet of local residents. Given the beauty of this slice of northeastern Florida, and its reputation as a top resort destinations, Amelia National’s hometown and surrounding environs make it an appealing locale for a special event. Especially one that lures some famous authors! What happens The Amelia Island Book Festival kicks off in the fall with a celebrity author luncheon that sets the stage for February’s two-day festival. The most recent celebrity author luncheon featured Orlando resident and New York Times and USA Today best-seller Kristin Harmel. The festival begins on a February Friday, first with authors visiting Nassau County schools, then with a dinner gala spotlighting those celebrity authors and a live auction that benefits the festival’s Authors in Schools Literary Program. The gala is open to the public; grab tickets here. On Saturday, the festival’s Authors Expo and Readers’ Extravaganza takes place at Fernandina Beach Middle School.
